Board of Directors

Lynda Sayge, President

From a young age, I was curious about the exclusive nature of boys' groups and their activities. Over time, I realized this segregation was a societal norm, but I chose not to accept it. My journey began with the Army, transitioned into the Fire Department, and culminated in a career as an Air Traffic Controller. My passion for equality and involvement didn't stop there; it extended to animal welfare and global issues. Engaging in foreign relations and joining like-minded groups, I've advocated for women's visibility in all spheres. I believe in the power of voting and staying informed to ensure our voices are heard and our contributions recognized.

Shauna Bona, Past-President

Shauna joined LWVSL in 2019 to help register, inform and inspire voters across the political spectrum. She currently chairs the LWVSL Nominating Committee and has previously served LWVSL as president and president-elect, as chair of the County and Local Government Committee (also known as the Observer Corps) and as leader of the Night Owls Unit. Her other past volunteer service includes the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Intermountain Area, the Utah Coalition Against Sexual Assault, the Girl Scouts of Utah and Inspiration Hospice.

Eileen Giardino, Treasurer

Dr. Eileen Giardino is a nurse and nurse educator with a focus on improving the healthcare of families and individuals. Her desire to impact and better understand the current political system brought her to volunteer at LWVSL. Before taking on the role of Treasurer she served as Secretary and was part of the Salt Lake County and Local Government Observer Corps.

As a recent transplant to Utah, Eileen enjoys spending time outside, working with nursing students and traveling to see family and friends. She lives in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Anne Neeley, Secretary

Anne joined LWVSL in 2018. She retired early in 2010 as a Retail Operations Manager, Store Manager, and District Operations Manager. Her management career took her to four states, and she moved back to Utah in 2003. She is a Utah native and graduated from Utah State University and was active in Kappa Delta Society while there. She is an avid supporter of the local arts in Utah and is currently Membership Chair of Ballet West where she also served as the immediate Past President and Treasurer. She is currently Secretary of Pioneer Theater Guild. She is a member of Chapter H of P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) and the Salt Lake Committee on Foreign Relations. She likes to read in her spare time and to attend as many performing arts events as her schedule allows.

Deborah Dilley, Organization Director

Deborah Dilley has over 20 years of experience in non-profit program development and financial management, and has worked as a consultant with a variety of small local non-profits to streamline their services and increase their fundraising capacity. As a community educator, Deborah has advocated for marginalized communities by providing trauma-informed training and technical assistance to individuals, organizations and agencies who provide services for the disability community and for survivors of domestic and sexual violence.

Originally from Texas, Deborah has lived in Utah for over 35 years.  She is an avid reader, and has accepted that her bookshelves will always be more intelligent than her because she has such a large want-to-read pile. She spends her free time traveling and having silly adventures with her loved ones.

Linda Smith, Program Director

Linda F. Smith graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in English and from Yale Law School with a JD. She practiced law in Boston (first as a litigator at a large firm and then in family law at Great Boston Legal Services) before moving to Utah to teach at the U of Utah SJ Quinney College of Law in 1984. There she headed up the “clinical program” that provided internship opportunities, and taught the required “legal profession” course as well as family law and poverty law. She was also President of the University Senate. Since her retirement in January 2021 she’s been involved in the League, serving as Program Director for two years and finally learning what that actually means. She continues to volunteer in family law cases and is active in the First Unitarian Church. For fun she tries to write fiction and poetry, walks the dog with her husband Lee Shuster (a retired IT professional) goes to exercise classes with Lee and her son Greg Kogan, watches her grandchildren (ages 10 and 12) play soccer and basketball, and compares Wordle scores with her son and daughter-in-law Nate and Anna Kogan.

Kelsey Nelson, Communications Director

Kelsey Nelson joined the League of Women Voters of Salt Lake in December of 2022. She has a deep passion for and interest in voter rights and was drawn to the League because of its efforts to combat gerrymandering. Since joining the League, Kelsey has served as the Fall Fete and Community Luncheon Chair. She is also a Communications Consultant for the League where she creates digital and print media. Prior to joining the League, Kelsey worked for the Utah Treasurer's Office and the Arizona Supreme Court. Kelsey has a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Southern Utah University and a Masters in Public Administration from The Ohio State University.
